Bell ID® Mass Personalisation Manager offers a comprehensive solution to issuers looking for a high volume card production solution that matches the flexibility and extensibility of their card management system.
Mass Personalisation Manager is used to transfer card specific information onto the chip(s), using high volume personalisation equipment. It brings a vendor independent, scripted solution to large issuers. This is achieved in a highly efficient and flexible way, using the proven technologies developed for the Bell ID® Token Manager product line.
Mass Personalisation Manager is aimed at medium to large sized card production environments, such as Personalisation Bureaus and large Card Issuers who do in-house production. For small scale environments, the Instant Issuance Manager, another module in the Bell ID® Token Manager product line, might prove to be a more suitable choice. Because of its flexibility, it is easy to introduce new (contactless) chip technology, add additional applications on the card, upgrade personalisation equipment or to accept input data in new data formats. As part of the Configuration Suite, a range of powerful tools is available to help with the implementation of such changes. These tools, including the Chip Perso Designer and the DataPrep Designer, provide an easy way to enhance the functionality of Mass Personalisation Manager.
High volume personalisation equipment comes in many different configurations. It usually comprises user-selected standard components that are combined to form a tailored machine for that specific user. This is reflected in Mass Personalisation Manager, which is able to work with many different card Personalisation methods, including laser engraving, (contactless) chip loading, magnetic stripe encoding, embossing and different forms of printing. Mass Personalisation Manager currently supports different models from CIM, Datacard and Matica, with new models being added over time. Cryptographic Security
Mass Personalisation Manager uses the seamlessly integrated Bell ID® Key Manager to conduct cryptographic operations. This interfaces with industry standard HSMs to carry out actions that require cryptographic keys like encryption and command authentication. The Bell ID® Token Manager product line is not strategically linked to any specific HSM vendor. This fulfils the preference of most issuers to stay with the HSM vendor supplying their other cryptographic needs.
Integration with Bell ID® Token Manager modules
As part of the Bell ID® Token Manager product line, Mass Personalisation Manager integrates seamlessly with the Data Preparation Module. This allows a single, integrated solution to be used for both data preparation and card production, while keeping both processes separated to reduce performance issues. It also shares the common characteristics of all Bell ID® Token Manager modules, such as the granular user rights management, extensive reporting and auditing facilities, and comprehensive support of operating systems due to the use of the Java™ Platform, Enterprise Edition (“Java EE”), well-known for providing an environment to run large-scale, multi-tiered, scalable, reliable, and secure network applications.
Mass Personalisation Manager is designed to be used either as a stand-alone solution or as part of a larger card and application management solution based on the Bell ID® Token Manager product line. In the latter case, Mass Personalisation Manager shares components (such as data storage, access to Host Security Modules, and the command sets configured for specific chip types and chip applications) with other modules to create a single integrated solution.
