EMV Script Management

Bell ID® EMV Script Manager provides issuers with the ability to dynamically update EMV parameters on smart cards and NFC enabled mobile phones while in circulation. Next to reducing risk and fraud, it also reduces cost as expensive smart cards no longer need to be re-issued as soon as the original parameters are outdated.

EMV scripts are collections of secured smart card commands, which are typically sent by the issuer to the EMV card application via standard payment/branch networks to ATM/POS/Branch terminals as part of authorisation or maintenance messages. Scripts can be used to change card application parameters in order to facilitate card behavioural changes. These changes would otherwise only be possible by the reissuance of the card, which is expensive for the issuer, or by post-issuance application management, which cannot occur over payment networks.

Bell ID® EMV Script Manager provides issuers with the ability to manage card parameters and behaviour remotely and in a manner that is transparent to cardholders, enabling practical functions such as PIN Change at ATM, PIN Change over Internet and Offline Card Risk Management. Banks that issue EMV cards supporting offline PIN verification require scripting in order to change and unblock PINs.

Bell ID® EMV Script Manager can operate both as a fully integrated optional component of Bell ID® EMV Token Manager or as a stand-alone product. Integrating EMV script management into Bell ID® EMV Token Manager together with standard functionalities allows for full-circle, end-to-end management of cards, keys, applications and parameters.
