Macau SAR, China
Bell ID® Identity Token Manager enabled the Macau government to issue Smart National ID cards, which also provide convenient access to public services and a secure channel for electronic transactions for Macau residents. This is the first of its kind in Asia and the third in the world. The objectives of the Macau Electronic ID card were to enhance the security features of ID cards, create a digital method to verify a resident’s identity through a Digital ID and/or biometric technology and provide a secure electronic platform to deploy e-government digital services from a common system
The sophistication of the chip based Macau Resident Identity meant that a smart card management system (SCMS) was required, especially given the requirement to download, update and delete applets.
